Some rambling notes...born in Portsmouth, England (at right), raised in Waterloo, grew up in downtown Toronto.
Spent my early years with my head down in a swimming pool, traveled the world, shook Fidel Castro’s hand in Havana…partied… and some how got a university degree despite never attending a full week of classes in my four years at school. This is something that I regret. However I didn't fall in love with learning until I had left University.
Swimming taught me to work hard, and I have applied that to my career. I have been working in the technology and media business for over 12 years.
Made a movie in Indonesia…Spent the dot com boom in
San Francisco...
Moved there when the NASDAQ was 5,200 points, came home when it was 1,400 points...
Met a wonderful woman
named Kerry (Knowles) Hulford... fell in love... got laid off… traveled…moved back to Toronto...
Got married... got laid off…
Had two wonderful kids named
Kate and
Jack... during this time started three internet companies (would not recommend this, one is fine)... raised money for
Fantasy Sports Network... bought
PoolExpert.com... mortgaged the house... ate snails...
shut Fantasy Sports Network down...
sold
PoolExpert to Rogers / Sportsnet... and am currently working on my third internet startup...
Filemobile.com where I am the Chief Creative Officer ... I manage
Product Development, and participate in Sales and Marketing... I have some
very smart business partners...
Kids are now sleeping through the night (thank god)... very happy in my life, and generally try to live each day as it comes... Travel is the spice of life ... Have been fortunate to have been able to travel to over forty countries and see a lot of cool things, and meet a lot of cool people... looking forward to the next adventure... that might be making a snowman, or planning my next trip with the family.
We are planning to take a walk-about in a couple of years.
